Yesterday I took a breather.
I had a little "getaway".
I went someplace new.
I got outside and took in the sunshine, the blue sky, and fresh fall air.
I had some space...some breathing room.
And I was inspired.
My "getaway" was only about 20 minutes away. But it was a "mini-vacation" from the everyday. I went to Terrain at Styer's. Think Anthropologie for your outdoor space, with a little home decor, and a cute cafe.
It's amazing what getting out of the normal routine did for my spirit.
There was so much to take in everywhere we looked...good stuff!
I went with a new friend who invited me to come along.
We both have a love of design, so we had fun walking through oohing and aahing and snapping lots of pics.
She treated me to a hot cider. We walked around every nook and cranny of that place and enjoyed.
Sometimes in seeking peace we need to take a little breather. Step out of our normal, comfortable routine and go someplace different. Sometimes, even with a new friend.
I'm not talking hopping a plane and heading to Fiji. Although that would be nice and inspiring I'm sure. But, let's be real, you can't do that after you drop the kids to school in the morning and be back in time to pick them up in the afternoon.
But, you can find a little bit of time in your week to set out to that little shop that you've been wanting to check out. Or walk around a nursery to take in the colors of the season.
Just sayin'...get out of your 4 walls and away from the endless "to-do" list every now and then and go someplace that inspires you.
It's amazing how good you'll feel. And how much the "mess" in your life quiets down and seems less.
I'd say that's a good reason to go.
But believe me, you'll come back with a list of reasons why you need to do this more often.
I'm already planning my next "get-away".
Where do you "getaway" to for a breather and to be inspired?
Please share in the comments. I'd love some ideas.

Going to Terrain is definitely on my list of fun things to do now! It looks as inspiring as Longwood Gardens, plus it looks like it gets high points for fashionable home style ideas. Thanks for sharing!
(WoW! You took some beautiful pictures!!! Beautiful lighting!)
