Forget about what's happened;
don't keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new.
It's bursting out! Don't you see it?
There it is! I'm making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (msg)
If we confess our mistakes, God promises forgiveness and mercy because Jesus died for all of our sins, all of our pain.
In the Psalms it says that God's mercy is so great toward those who believe. That He removes our wrong-doings so far from us, as far as the east is from the west.
So, if you've already confessed those things and given them to God, stop looking back and dwelling on mistakes long gone, forgiven, and forever removed. Or maybe you've never received that gift of forgiveness because you've been holding on and trying to move forward on your own. Might I humbly suggest taking a moment and confessing that mistake to God? No matter how big or how small the wrong, His forgiveness is all the same and it's available right now.
Then, like Isaiah records, forget about what's happened, don't keep going over it.
Instead watch expectantly for the new thing God's about to do.
